About Us
CoastCom was formed in 2000 as a privately held Competitive Local
Exchange Carrier (CLEC) based in Newport, Oregon. Founded by the owners
of Action Networks, an ISP whose core business is computer network sales
and support, our vision is to deliver advance fiber
communications to our customers on the Oregon Coast. We deliver a broad array of integrated communications
solutions – including transport for Ethernet data, Internet access and
IP based solutions over our fiber network.
CoastCom is currently operating two fiber
networks on the coast that were conceived by forward thinking groups
that understood in order for the Oregon Coast to survive in the digital
economy they needed to implement plans for an advanced fiber optic
network. Their primary goals are to promote economic development and
employment in our communities and provide adequate digital services to
government, schools, health care organizations and business at an
affordable rate.
Fiber Networks
-
CoastNet is a group of public and non profit entities led by The
Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County that has an agreement
with the
Central Lincoln PUD for a dark fiber lease throughout the PUD's
electrical service area. In 2005, through a series of agreements with
the Alliance and their previous provider, CoastCom took over the
operations of this fiber network.
- Tillamook
Lightwave is an intergovernmental agency comprised of
Tillamook County,
Port of Tillamook Bay,
and Tillamook PUD, who
has constructed a fiber network in portions of Tillamook County. In
September 2005, CoastCom was awarded the contract to be the network
service provider for the Tillamook Lightwave Network.
