CoastCom operates a submarine cable landing station in Pacific City, OR owned by Tillamook Lightwave. Currently, the cable landing station serves as the West Coast home of Interactive Oceans, a research project funded by the National Science Foundation. This cable supports of a complex network of instruments and instrumented moorings that spans the Western Hemisphere.
CoastCom owns and operates an underground fiber cable from Pacific City to Hillsboro, OR. A second redundant path is under construction.
CoastCom has constructed an ultra-high count, low-loss fiber ring connecting six data centers in the Hillsboro, OR area. These routes give data center customers access to redundant dark fiber connections for pathways to other companies in other data centers. For more info, see our PDF.
“We asked CoastCom to build high-speed fiber service to our new location. Engineering work began immediately. Despite days of rain and unpredictable problems, they finished early. The internet service is extremely fast. CoastCom’s support is fantastic, and they employ technically competent people who understand our needs. The new purely-fiber circuit seems so reliable we may never need to contact them, but if we should, it is comforting to know the caliber of people we will be interfacing with. The level of service CoastCom provides is vastly better than is common in the industry.”
